No stranger to friendship.
Occupational therapy graduate Nick Maisey is attempting to tackle the global issue of social connectedness, one person at a time.
While studying at Curtin University, he was forwarded an email by a coordinator that opened his eyes to how difficult it can be to get socially connected. In it, a young man sought one thing: a friend.
Struck by the honesty, Maisey started his own organisation in 2010, Befriend, with the aim to break down barriers that get in the way of making friends. Since then, Befriend has grown to become an award-winning initiative and a community of more than 4,500 people in Perth.
