Turn your strengths into your career.
Curtin University is ensuring that everyone, regardless of any disability, has a chance to develop their personal skills and find a rewarding, meaningful career.
The Autism Academy Software Quality Assurance (AASQA) is a social initiative – the first of its kind in Australia – with the goal of harnessing the strengths of individuals on the autism spectrum and allowing them to use their natural talents in a practical and complementary way.
Currently located at the Bentley Campus at Innovation Central Perth, AASQA aims to help young individuals on the spectrum find employment in software testing. The participants often possess highly developed problem skills and attention to detail, which are important assets in software or security development positions.
Since the academy’s establishment in 2015, three interns have been employed by Bankwest as software testers.
